The National Pool Lifeguard Course
Qualification: NPLQ with AED
The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is the most widely recognised lifeguard qualification in the UK & Ireland and is a recruitment requirement for a number of jobs from Pool Lifeguard to Centre Manager. On successful completion of the course you will be fully qualified to work as a Pool Lifeguard.
If you would like to gain the additional Emergency First Aid At Work (QCF) Level 2 Award, then please select this option below after booking and checking out.
Our National Pool Lifeguard courses run over 5 days and each day 8.00 - 17.00. With the assessment day on the last afternoon / evening of the course.
The qualification is valid for 24 months. The Certificate must be renewed within the validity period.

This will be delivered in two parts:
Theory sections will be done remotely, these include; CPR theory, In-water theory, First Aid theory, Water safety theory.
When pool facilities reopen and booking allows, the practical sessions will include;
Practical CPR skills, Practical pool work, Practical First Aid skills

Emergency First Aid At Work - Bolt on
Qualification: Emergency First Aid At Work (RQF) Level 2 Award
This qualification can be added to your existing National Pool Lifeguard course (NPLQ) with no additional hours required. On successful completion of the NPLQ you will gain an addtional certification valid for 3 years.

The National Pool Lifeguard Course (Refresher)
A one day course for candidates who wish to renew their National Pool Lifeguard Qualification. Candidates may renew their qualification only within the period of validity of they're existing qualification and evidence of 20 hours of competency.
The assessment will start at 3.00 and can take up to 3 hours to complete.

Emergency Response Programme (Swimming Pools)
The Emergency Response Certificate (Swimming Pools) is a Certificate of Water Rescue Competence for staff working in a facility where there is a swimming pool but where there is no direct poolside supervision. Designed to train ancilary staff to back up and support the lifeguard team (if available) and staff to respond to an emergency.
In addition, the qualification will apply where pool operators wish to provide a suitable programme of training and independent assessment for staff who may act in support of the lifeguard team. This is not a Lifeguard qualification.
Emergency Response (Pool) is valid for 24 months. The Certificate must be renewed within the validity period.
The Emergency Response course is a two day course from 9.00 - 17.00 each day.

National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers & Coaches - Light
Qualification: National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches LIGHT (NRASTC LIGHT)
NRASTC LIGHT is a supervision and rescue qualification for teachers working on the poolside or in the water during programmed activities, such as a swimming lesson when Lifeguard or First Aid backup is available to respond quickly in the event of emergency.
It is suitable for teachers working in a wide range of swimming pools, including pools where the water is deeper than the teacher’s standing depth.
If Lifeguard or First Aid backup is not available the standard NRASTC should be used.
The NRASTC course is a one day course from 9.00 - 16.00 with the qualification lasting for two years.

National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers & Coaches - New Candidate
Qualification: NRASTC, First Aid & AED New candidates and Renewals wishing to gain additional qualifications
The National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers & Coaches course is considered to be a suitable level of expertise for anyone who teaches or coaches a programmed aquatic activity. Current Health and Safety guidelines put the responsibility for life guarding onto the authority in charge of the pool, however teachers and coaches are strongly advised to hold this certificate and keep it up to date. The NRASTC qualification also counts as CPD points towards an ASA/UKCC Teacher/Coach license.
The NRASTC course is a Two day course from 9.00 - 17.00 with the qualification lasting for two years and First Aid lasting 3 years.

When Emergency First Aid at Work and AED training are integrated with this course the training hours are extended as well as an additional charge for these qualifications.
